The investor is looking at her phone. The studio executive is already thinking about his next meeting. The potential client is distracted by a dozen other priorities. You’ve spent months, maybe years, honing your idea, your script, your product. And you have five minutes to make them care.
How do you do it? Do you lead with the data? The feature list? The meticulously researched market analysis?
No. You do what storytellers have been doing for a thousand generations. You hijack their brain.
A great pitch is not a presentation of information. It is a work of applied neuroscience. It is a carefully calibrated performance designed to bypass the skeptical, analytical neocortex and speak directly to the ancient, emotional, and decision-making part of the brain: the limbic system, the "primal brain."
Your pitch is not a spreadsheet. It’s a story.
